Two rivals (Tony Liu as Lung Shu-Ai and Kuan Tai Chen as Tan Fu) find their conflict escalated after a series of mysterious and grisly murders hit their village. There seems to be a connection to lantern artist Chao Chun-Fang (Lieh Lo) who Master Lung has hired to construct a magnificent lantern for an upcoming festival.
This is a martial arts horror movie with some imaginative combat sequences and genuinely unsettling, if not ultra-realistic, gore. Although an interesting watch, it does not quite break into that three-paw category.
