Charlie Sykes (Chad Lowe) and Rachel Clark (Kristy Swanson) are eloping to Vegas when they decide to take a back road to avoid detection. This puts them on a deserted highway where they run afoul of the Hellcop (C.J. Graham) who kidnaps Rachel at the behest of the Devil (Patrick Bergin), who is looking for a new love interest. Charlie gets a magic roadster that allows him to cross over into Hell to save Rachel, but he must get back before the portal closes forever.
This movie has apparently developed a cult following over the years, I don’t know why. I didn’t think much of it. I liked Drive Angry with Nicolas Cage much more. There are several cameos in the movie, all of them pretty silly. The movie is more fantasy than horror – think Phantasm if it were more of a slapstick comedy, with a dog. I thought about it giving it zero paws, but I am in a generous mood.
