Nerdy teen Hoax (Stephen Geoffreys) idolizes his tough, cool neighbor/cousin Spike and starts crushing on Spike’s girlfriend Angela (María Rubell). When Hoax dials the devil-sponsored 976-EVIL phone line, he is granted demonic abilities, which he uses to take gruesome revenge on a gang of bullies.
Hoax goes power-mad and becomes less human as he goes after everyone that has cheesed him off, including former friend Spike. This leads to a final confrontation between the two for the sake of the entire town, if not beyond.
There’s a pnuematic tube system in this movie, and it actually gets worked into the plot! A tip of the cap to director Robert Englund for making a solid, if not spectacular, supernatural teen horror.
