Artist Mary (Cristina Ferrare) and free-spirited Ben (David Young) are Americans who have both made their way south into Mexico where they meet up one night, and begin a romantic relationship soon after.
The problem: Mary is a fangless vampire! She is constantly fighting the urge to kill Ben and suck out all of his blood. She has to sneak away to find other victims, and the urge seems to hit her randomly (she can be out in the daylight as well as at night).
When the police start finding the bodies of Mary’s victims and of a second blood-draining killer, the movie starts to pick up a bit. This second killer is stalking Mary, and poor Ben is right in the middle of all the chaos.
Mary wears a necklace with a sort of tooth-shaped pendant, and combined with her bisexual scene, this has some similarities to 1979’s The Hunger, but definitely lacking the flair of that classic.
The (seemingly) low budget prevents the beauty of the Mexican settings from being properly utilized, and both the sex and the violence are too tame by 1970’s standards to hold interest. Just an overall bland affair.
