Also known as: Cult Of The Damned
Neglected daughter Tara Nicole Steele (Holly Near) falls into a crowd/cult of weirdos, led by rock singer Bogart Peter Stuyvesant (Jordan Christopher), who then move in on her wealthy parents to exploit them.
Well.
I am sure this adaptation of a stage play was written with the best intentions. But the end result is misogynistic, racist, homophobic, ageist, psychotic drivel. It probably did not help that it was released in theaters about ten days after the Tate-LaBianca murders, if you see how the story plays out.
There are a lot of songs in the movie, by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and they all suck. The one positive thing I will say about the movie is that it does try to do something a little different than you see in most movies. It tries to say something, it just does a terrible job of it.
Critics blasted this movie, and so did some of the people involved in making it.
