SPOILERS: In the Regency era of England, a newlywed bride is terrorized by visions of a severed hand and its eyeless owner. She discovers she is involved in a curse on her husband’s family from a rape incident two generations prior.
Her numbskull husband either doesn’t given credence to the curse, or doesn’t care enough, as several people die and instead of leaving the house for London (he’s rich and could easily do so), he rides it out at the family manor to his wife’s detriment and his own unhappiness.
Herbert Lom, Patrick Magee, and Peter Cushing have supporting roles, and all are solid. The costuming and set designs are very well crafted. Always frustrating when characters make really bad choices despite obvious circumstances directing them otherwise.
