Widowed via a freak electrical accident, Cal Jamison (Martin Sheen) moves with his son to NYC for a fresh start, but they both get caught up in a plot involving Santeria, an Afro-American religion originating out of Cuba. In this movie, Santeria is portrayed as very voodoo-like in terms of rituals and the ability to control the actions of others.

This movie is nearly two hours along, and I started to fidget. It falls into the occult thriller genre like Exorcist III and Angel Heart, but those films are far more gripping and better written. Other than Sheen, I didn’t really feel invested in anybody or the predictable plot. It is not a horror movie, just a couple of mild horror elements inserted, and it isn’t much of a thriller, because you can see what’s coming early on.

I give it 1 out of 4 paws: lion paw
