Christopher Lee and Klaus Kinski both had good things to say about director Jess Franco, who could always claim his movies were on time and under budget. Count Dracula is pretty faithful to Bram Stoker’s novel, and Lee in the title role is great as always (a little toned down from the Hammer films). The movie is earnest, if not extravagant, but does plod along in a few places. Includes the great Herbert Lom as Van Helsing!
